Fear and its apprehension are powerful and destructive. Olivia Kathigitis focuses upon the eroding quality of the mind, and behaviours as consequence to the anxiety.
Through multiple medias, she explores the fragility of the cohesive mind. Presenting portraits of (the dissipation of) consciousness and the abstract span of realities. Olivia Kathigitis is a sculpture and installation artist based in Adelaide, Australia.
Her multi-media practice includes sculptural forms, painting and photography. Kathigitis is a recent Honours graduate from the South Australian School of Art and has been awarded the Peter Walker Encouragement Prize and Friends of SASA: Fine Arts Award.
Her work has been exhibited locally, including FELTspace, The Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition & CACSA; as well as interstate with her involvement in the Found Festival in Melbourne and the Elizabeth Day Bruny Island Residency in Tasmania. From 2012 - 2016 she was the Director for Adelaide ARI, Format Systems Gallery.
In 2017, Kathigitis participated in the La Wayaka Current Arctic residency on Sørøya Island, Norway, and has been invited to join South Australian makers and Designers for the SLOW Fashion Festival with a range of jewellery.
